Jillian Whitaker is a composer and saxophonist located in Los Angeles, CA. She is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a BM in Composition/Theory and is currently working alongside film composer Assaf Rinde.
Jillian has written for a wide variety of ensembles including wind band, chamber orchestra, string quartet, saxophone quartet, solo saxophone, solo piano, and choir, among others. Her music is regularly commissioned and performed around the United States and Europe and has received multiple awards and recognitions.
Her unique blend of musical influences ranges from the bluegrass and celtic music that she grew up on to the minimalist, “Americana”, and West African music that she fell in love with later on in life.
This combined with her passion for film scoring makes Jillian not only a chameleon of musical styles, but also a completely original and innovative voice in the world of concert music.
